I bought this product myself and this review is based on my own experience.
I work away from home three days a week, and after doing that for a few years, I’ve learnt that anything that helps me stay organised and reduce the amount of luggage I carry is worth considering.
Being away from home is stressful enough. You need to make sure you have everything you need without feeling like you’ve packed the entire contents of your house.
I’ve been through several suitcases over the years, and my previous one had reached the point where the handle was becoming temperamental.
So I decided it was time to replace it.
I looked at what felt like hundreds of suitcases before finally choosing the Travely expandable cabin case with laptop compartment.
I paid around £55, I’ve now been using it for about four months, and overall I’m really happy with it.
Why I chose this suitcase
I wanted something compact enough for regular work trips but practical enough that I didn’t need to carry several separate bags.
The laptop compartment was one of the main things that caught my attention.
If I’m travelling light, I really don’t want to carry a suitcase and a separate laptop bag.
Having a dedicated compartment means I can get my laptop out on the train without opening the main suitcase and showing everyone the rest of my packing.
That sounds like a small detail, but when you travel regularly it makes a big difference.
The internal pockets help keep smaller items organised rather than everything ending up loose in the case.
The two carry handles are really useful
The suitcase has two carry handles, so I can pick it up either upright or sideways.
I use both depending on where I’m putting it — especially getting it into a car, luggage rack or hotel room.
It moves really well
The four wheels are another thing I like.
It glides across most floors easily, which makes travelling through stations, hotels and car parks much less awkward.
When you’re already carrying work equipment or another bag, having a suitcase that rolls properly matters.
It’s expandable
For normal work trips, I don’t necessarily need the extra space.
But if I’m away for longer, I can expand the case and fit considerably more inside.
That gives me the option of using the same suitcase for shorter and longer trips rather than needing different cases.
There’s plenty of room for a normal work trip, and the case can be expanded when I’m away for longer.
The laptop compartment is probably my favourite feature
For the way I travel, this is the feature that makes the biggest difference.
If I want to work on the train, I can get my laptop out quickly without opening the main suitcase.
It also means I can travel with one less bag.
For someone who is regularly moving between home, hotels and work, that makes travelling feel noticeably simpler.

Is there anything I don’t like?
There is one thing I had to learn.
When my laptop is in the front compartment, it adds quite a lot of weight to the front of the suitcase.
At first, I found that the case could topple over if I hadn’t packed it carefully.
The solution has simply been to put the heavier clothes and other items towards the back or bottom of the suitcase so the weight is distributed more evenly.
Once I realised that, it stopped being a problem.
It’s still worth knowing about, though, particularly if you’re carrying a heavier laptop.
Who I think it would suit
I think this suitcase would be particularly useful for:
- people who travel regularly for work
- anyone staying away one or two nights at a time
- people who want to avoid carrying a separate laptop bag
- commuters who work on trains
- anyone looking for an expandable cabin-size case
- people who want a suitcase that is easy to manoeuvre
- regular hotel travellers

My verdict
After travelling for work regularly for several years, I’ve realised that the best luggage isn’t necessarily the fanciest.
It’s the luggage that makes travelling less complicated.
The Travely case does that for me.
It rolls well, has plenty of room for a normal work trip, can be expanded when I need more space and — most importantly — gives me easy access to my laptop without opening the whole suitcase.
The weight distribution took a little getting used to, but now I know how to pack it, it hasn’t been an issue.
For around £55, I think it has been a really useful purchase.
Would I buy it again? Yes.
